This project involves reconfiguring the first floor plan and reconstructing the second floor of a house in Marshfield, MA that had been damaged in a snowstorm. The roof and second floor had been removed prior to our involvement in the project. The client desired a more open first floor plan as well as a higher ceiling height. The second floor was to be enlarged by two feet in length by the use of pre-engineered I-joists. Pictured below is the original house after initial demolition phase.
The redesign of the interior and exterior of the residence involved the addition of a wrap-around farmers porch running the entire length of the house and breezeway, an open first floorplan with 8′-0 ceiling height (increased from the original 7′-3″ ceiling height). Window openings were enlarged to allow for more natural light and an open feel in conjunction with the newly raised ceiling height.
